POP ART IN BELGIUM!

From October 15, 2015 till February 14, 2016, ING Belgium opens the doors of the ING Art Center in Brussels for the exhibition "Pop Art in Belgium!" This exhibition brings to the public, exactly fifty years after the opening of the first large scale exhibition on Pop Art in Belgium, a large overview of both international and Belgian Pop Art works.

Curators Carl Jacobs and Patricia De Peuter brought together more then 140 art works and tell the story of how international Pop Art conquered the Belgian art scene in no time thanks to the critical eye of a group of art critics and collectors and how Belgian artists appropriated international Pop language in a short but intense periode from 1963 until 1970).

"Pop Art in Belgium!" is a unique and compelling story about a period in Belgian art history which has remained largely underexposed for decades. It tells the story of a dynamic and creative period which expressed its own era and helped shape what came after.
